Job Description
- Certification as necessary by meeting regulatory requirements of training.
- Comply with all policies, procedures, and operating rules that are relevant to job tasks to complete them safely.
- Ensure the safety of others by intervening when unsafe acts or behaviors occur.
- Maintain awareness of surroundings and for suspicious activity to ensure rail safety.
- Perform railcar switching and train movement operations by operating switches, coupling/uncoupling railcars, obtaining and updating necessary documents for movement, making repairs by changing knuckles and air brake hoses.
- Understand and act upon the aspects and indications of railroad color light signals.
- Proficiency with spoken and written communications.
- Ability to solve basic math problems.
- Interact with customers to deliver world class service.
- Interact with the public to ensure a healthy corporate image.
- Comply with instructions of Contract Supervisors and Managers when given.
- Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One or more years of outside work exp (e.g. construction, heavy equipment op, farming,etc)
- Experience working in a safety sensitive environment
