Position Overview
The Assistant Manager is a pivotal leadership role responsible for supporting the General Manager in driving the overall performance of the hotel. This position requires a hands-on leader with a proactive approach to operations, ensuring that all departments deliver superior guest experiences while maintaining operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, a team motivator, and an advocate for continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Excellence
Coordinate and oversee the day-to-day activities of all operational departments, including Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Maintenance, and Guest Relations.
Develop, implement, and monitor standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain consistency and efficiency across departments.
Collaborate with department heads to address operational challenges and enhance service delivery.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensure the hotel meets or exceeds operational goals.
2. Guest Experience Management
Actively engage with guests, ensuring their needs are anticipated and exceeded.
Handle guest complaints and feedback promptly and effectively, aiming for resolution that enhances guest satisfaction and loyalty.
Analyze guest feedback, online reviews, and satisfaction surveys to identify trends and implement improvement strategies.
Work closely with the marketing and sales teams to align guest service initiatives with brand promises.
3. Team Leadership and Development
Lead, mentor, and motivate team members across all operational departments.
Conduct regular training sessions to enhance team performance, focusing on guest service, operational standards, and brand values.
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and recognition.
Support the recruitment, onboarding, and professional growth of team members to maintain a high-performing workforce.
4. Financial Management
Assist in preparing and managing the annual operational budget.
Monitor departmental expenses to ensure adherence to budgetary guidelines.
Analyze revenue and expense reports to identify cost-saving opportunities and implement corrective actions where needed.
Contribute to strategies that enhance the hotel’s financial performance, including upselling programs and efficient inventory management.
5. Health, Safety, and Compliance
Ensure the hotel complies with all local, national, and international regulations related to health, safety, and environmental standards.
Conduct regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments to maintain a safe and secure environment for guests and staff.
Maintain accurate records of incidents, inspections, and certifications.
6. Technology and Systems
Leverage hotel management software (e.g., eZee Absolute, eZee Optimus) to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
Stay updated on emerging trends in hospitality technology and recommend solutions that align with the hotel’s operational goals.
Ensure data security and compliance with industry standards.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in the hospitality industry, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role in a 4-star or luxury property.
Proven track record of delivering results in guest satisfaction, operational efficiency, and financial performance.
Strong familiarity with hotel management software and property management systems.
