Long Scale Medieval String DrumBased on a number of 15th Century examples, the string drum is tuned in open D and the strings are struck with a stick, giving a percussive chord. Often shown being played with a tabor pipe, it can lend its unique and interesting sound to any ensemble. This drum has a spruce soundboard with walnut ends, cherry sides and back, maple bridge, ebony violin pegs, and is individually serviced and fitted with gut strings by our luthier prior to despatch. I have them in black and white. I use them everyday in all shoes. These are very versatile and a great quality material. They take a looong time to wear and they stay in place. Very washable and good material. They are not too thick and they do not shrink. I do air dry mine. They do not hold smells even in the summer heat.
